This camp was a way for me to connect with other people who have similar if not worse and some better conditions than myself, I was able to learn and understand the blind community better and also make connections with people and feel a part of the community.

Camp Limitless

Our Summer Camp Program, dubbed “Camp Limitless”, offers children and youth who are blind or partially sighted opportunities to challenge personal limits, develop new skills and increase self-confidence at this outdoor adventure camp.

Children who are blind or partially sighted often have limits placed on them and are not given the opportunity to try physical challenges at a young age. This can result in them becoming hesitant to try new experiences and can impact their self confidence. As this cycle continues, these children feel left out of group activities and feelings such as loneliness and isolation can build.

The objective of Camp Limitless is to provide campers with an experience in which blindness is not the primary focus of their lives and to help them build self-confidence through participation in a variety of challenging activities normally reserved for their sighted peers.

Supporting Families

Camp Limitless not only facilitates friendships among children who are blind, but also enables their parents and sighted siblings to build necessary networks of support.

At Camp Limitless our objectives are to

  • Create confidence

  • Increase independence

  • Raise expectations

  • Build crucial peer support networks

I loved it. It was nice to see my kids be challenged in ways they aren’t at home and to conquer their fears and see their potential.
